a collection of Bedtime Paintings

These paintings are part of my ‘unwinding-before-sleep’ routine — a practice I return to as often as I remember and manage to carve out time and space for it. It is a moment where I ‘allow to be’— nothing and everything, non judgmentally.

By dim candle light I take a moment with brush, watercolour* and paper, letting my ‘subconscious’ guide the way. No ambitions or desires for the image and only a vague sense of the colours I am using; allowing the full picture to become clear in the morning.

*from time to time I do use other materials like (coloured) pencil, crayon, charcoal, or whatever else I find lying around).
